bodies of women found in afghanistan.

February 12th, 2010

Four bodies-two women and two men-were discovered in a compound in southeast Afghanistan by Afghan and NATO forces.  The women found were bound and gagged.   As the Afghan and NATO troops approached the compound, they were immediately fired at and a gun battle began, causing many to flee. After the gun battle, the troops searched the compound, finding the bodies.  NATO’s International Security Assistant Force(ISAF) and Afghan forces detained 8 men for questioning.  A spokesman for the ISAG, Brig. Gen. Eric Tremblay, said in relation to the incident,  ”ISAF continually works with our Afghan partners to fight criminals and terrorists who do not care about the life of civilians. The Interior Ministry of Afghanistan has sent a high-ranking delegation today to jointly investigate this incident. We will cooperate fully in this joint investigation and provide any assistance the Interior Ministry requires.”

The bodies have yet to be identified. The cause of death has yet to be determined. Yet it is clear that the ISAF believes that this is the result of  deadly terrorists, apathetic to the innocent lives of Afghan civilians. The investigation into this crime is ongoing[via CNN].
